Meet Dave

Originally from Michigan, I moved to Florida in 1997 to pursue a career as a PGA Teaching Professional. I got my start in golf at the age of 12. Like a lot of kids, I played basketball, football and baseball. I was a good athlete and golf was the last sport I picked up.

I was hooked from the start and when I reached high school, I had to decide which sports to continue because some of their seasons overlapped each other. I chose golf and basketball. I figured I could play golf the rest of my life and make a career out of it even if I didn't make the PGA Tour. It's funny how things work out.

I started my golf career working in private country clubs in Michigan for nine years. I really enjoyed teaching the game and knew if I was going to be successful in the business that was the road I needed to travel. In 1997, I got a call from the Faldo Golf Institute in Orlando asking me to come aboard as an instructor. Two days later, I packed my bags and made the move.

I developed my early philosophy as a teacher there, concentrating on the intricacies of the golf swing and how to communicate better with people of different personality types. Because everyone learns differently, a teacher must figure out the most effective way to communicate with his students. My goal is always to make sure that my student not only gets better but understands why he or she is getting better and has a lot of fun in the process.

Well, that is a little bit about me. I hope you will give me the chance not only to help you with your game but know you as a person.

Keep it in the fairway!

Dave Clark, PGA Teaching Professional
